History
WFC Past and Present
The Wrestling Federation of Champions, the WFC, was established in 1981 on December 23th. After a long grueling and competitive 20 man tournament Two-bit Jack Jones defeated Gorilla Munson to become the first ever WFC World Champion. Throughout the years, the WFC has put together many events and has had many wrestling matches with tons of characters and gimmicks. The federation started out small, doing a few shows with a few wrestlers in 2 or 3 matches, over several weeks. Eventually, as the WFC grew, many more wrestling talents were discovered and the events were put together much more solidly with more matches and storylines.
In 1996, on December 24th, the WFC had their first televised event. It was Christmas Eve and the top contender for the WFC Championship title, The Kyd , faced the WFC Champion, Killer Kris in an awesome main event that night. The match was back and forth as both wrestled for the gold. At the end, The Kyd's manager Princess Tiffany, interfered in the match over and over again and lastly smashed a metal foreign object over Killer Kris's head, so that The Kyd pinned the champion after his famous DDT.
The next night was Christmas day and the second televised show for the WFC took place. In the main event was the rematch from just the night before. The new champion, K.Y.D defended the WFC title against the former champion, Killer Kris. If the match the night before was great, this one was a classic, as the two out did their previous night's match. In the end, Killer Kris pinned K.Y.D after a massive powerbomb to the floor.
The main event match that night marked the uprising of the WFC. It gave birth to what the WFC needed to become a stable powerhouse in the world of backyard wrestling. The most glorified years in the WFC was from the beginning of 1997 to the year 2000. These years saw the WFC rise with tons of new wrestlers and matches, new titles made, new events taking place and a rising fan base.
A most memorable match that took place on August 17, 1997, was at the WFC Grand Arena. It was the main event to a great show that had the biggest audience in WFC history. Fans from all over the United States came to watch this widely anticipated event. The main event was a grueling brawl between The Beast and the now two time champion, The Kyd. The match was fantastic. Both wrestlers showed tons of moves and maneuvers and used a plethora of weapons that would make a hardcore legend like Mick Foley proud. The end saw The Beast shattering a bucket into pieces over K.Y.D's head. But soon after The Kyd somehow had enough strength to DDT The Beast's head into a chair for the win. It was truely one to remember in the WFC.
The annual pay-per-view events that the WFC had were extremely well put together with fans going nuts over the action and storylines. Future showcase events were highly anticipated.
The excitement of the WFC came to a head in mid 1999 when the WFC had their first ever "backyard brawl" at the WFC No Holds Barred P.P.V. The WFC Championship belt was on the roof of the Grand Arena. The stipulation was that whichever wrestler climbed up and grabbed the belt would be the new WFC Champion. The WFC Championship title was vacant, because of the former champion's lack of defending it and finding all sorts of ways to get around facing his opponents. This match was to be the rejuvenation of the WFC Championship title. The two top contenders in the WFC at the time were the extremely popular fan favorite in "The calm before the storm" Magma and the charismatic, yet cocky Chaos. This match was a smash-mouth war that saw the two killing each other with everything they could find in the backyard covered with a massive variety of weapons. At the end, Chaos became the new WFC Champion as he grabbed the title from the roof and fell to the ground below. Their feud wouldn't end there, as the two had many more exciting matches.
The "backyard brawl" in 1999 was one of the highlight matches in the WFC. The WFC held strong throughout the new year of 2000, but slightly faded away as less matches were booked and less events took place. In mid 2002, the WFC made a come back with a new energy that was felt for the WFC to live strong again. The new age of the WFC had begun. The WFC widened their fan base once again with new ideas and new foreseen events. This website is a direct example of how the WFC stayed strong throughout the years. Without the support and enthusiasm of the fans, this website wouldn't have been created. This website is here as proof that the WFC will not die out or fade away. The Official 'Wrestling Federation of Champions' Website documents the WFC's wrestling history for your enjoyment. Thank you for your interest and support of one of the greatest, if not the greatest "backyard wrestling" federations of all time.
